This year marks the 50th production of the Mighty Kiwanis Art Players annual Newspaper Sale Skit. So, in honor of 50 years, the skit is entitled “Re-Greased” and portrays the 50th class reunion of Rydell High, where the Grease characters graduated. No one has changed (much) in the past 50 years but there is some identity confusion only to be corrected by Principal Pauli who still runs the school with her trusted disciplinarian, Coach McFadden. The T-Birds and Pink Ladies reminisce about old times and a lively DJ plays hits from their day and the audience will be part of the show! This is a fun time to bring your spouse or a guest. Last year almost 90 were in attendance, so be sure to get to the Manor House early on the 6th to get a good seat! On the day of our Kiwanis Newspaper Sale Skit, December 6th, we invite the Salvation Army to bring their Red Kettle. The club donates $2,000 and members and guests last year contributed another $1200. The Salvation Army gives up bell-ringing spots on our Newspaper Sale day and filling their Red Kettle is a way to say “Thank You” not only for helping us with the paper sale but for all the good work they do for those in need in our community.

Our Newspaper Sale Project began in 1918! This year the date is Friday, December 13. Every Kiwanis member has a role and included with this newsletter are assignments for the sale. The first person assigned to your location (with name underlined) is the “Captain” and Captains have the responsibility of contacting the other members assigned to your location and schedule times to cover for the sale (11am to 4pm are suggested times). The Manor House will serve as the Newspaper Headquarters and Little Caesars Pizza will be available between 11:30 am and 2pm (no cost for this lunch). Last year we spent $12,000 on shoes and boots for needy kids, so we have a robust goal of meeting that $12,000 with this Newspaper Sale.
